Driver Arrested in Connection with Fatal Hit-and-Run on South Jones Blvd, Las Vegas

On March 26, a pedestrian lost her life in a hit-and-run incident that occurred on South Jones Boulevard just north of West Fairbanks Road, Las Vegas. The tragic event unfolded early in the morning when, according to evidence and video surveillance, a white midsize Sport Utility Vehicle struck the victim who may have been sitting or kneeling on the road at that time. The vehicle involved did not stop, fleeing northbound, leaving the woman critically injured. She was promptly transported to the University Medical Center’s Trauma Unit, where, despite efforts to save her life, she was pronounced deceased.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section followed up on the case and, through investigations, successfully identified and located the driver and vehicle on March 28. Ji Yang, 34, was arrested and is facing charges for his involvement in the incident that left a 43-year-old female pedestrian dead, her identity remains pending notification of kin. Yang’s vehicle was revealed to be a 2022 Maserati Levante, details emerging from an official press release by the LVMPD.

Further complicating this tragic circumstances, a new development has surfaced. The CCCOME (Clark County Office of the Coroner Medical Examiner) determined that the pedestrian’s death was an accident, which led to the updating of the case, now referred to as fatal #57 by the authorities.
