White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s recent appearances have sparked public discussion, with some questioning her performance during press briefings.
During Thursday’s briefing, which was plagued by technical difficulties, Leavitt’s speech seemed unclear to some online viewers. This followed comments from Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, who praised Trump’s “unprecedented and historic first 100 days,” and expressed relief that Kamala Harris hadn’t won the election. Leavitt then appeared to encourage Harris to continue public speaking engagements, a remark that drew mixed reactions.
Some social media users speculated about the cause of Leavitt’s perceived speaking difficulties, while others defended her and praised her performance. Similar accusations regarding public speaking were also directed at Kamala Harris following a recent speech.
Adding to the controversy, Leavitt misspoke during Monday’s press conference, incorrectly stating that Trump’s presidency began on January 1st and citing border wall construction progress from that date. She went on to discuss the president’s request to Congress for increased funding for border wall construction and support for ICE and border patrol agents. January 1st, however, fell within Joe Biden’s presidential term.
