At least half of the horses competing in the 2025 Kentucky Derby have ties to Marion County, including all three of the horses favored to win.
According to The Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ & Owners’ Association, around 10 of the 20 horses competing in the race have connections to Ocala or other parts of Marion County.
