Beckwith Pushes Back: ‘I Work for the People’

INDIANANAPOLIS — Indiana’s Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith says he doesn’t regret his comments about the Three-Fifths Compromise. Beckwith posted a video on social media defending the compromise, claiming it helped “eradicate slavery” and was “a great move by the North.”

“It’s never to address hard truths, but that’s what leaders do: you call out the lies of the culture,” Beckwith told WIBC Radio. “When I heard a state senator disparaging the history of America by using the Three-Fifths Compromise in a way that’s not accurate.”
