As the wheels of newly-single Amanda Jablon’s skateboard glided down the path of Junipero Beach, she found herself wishing she had a group of girlfriends to share this therapeutic hobby with.
Inspired by the inclusivity of Venice-based skate organization GrlSwrl, Jablon reached out to try and start a Long Beach chapter, and was urged by the non-profit to start her own club.
One evening on her daily sunset skate, she decided to create the community she had been searching for. A quick Instagram account setup (@longbeachskateclub) and a few posts later, Jablon had a coalition of womxn ready to join her for a skate sesh; all levels and all wheels welcome…
