Troy man pleads guilty in cocaine case linked to 2 deaths

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — A Troy man pleaded guilty on Thursday to selling cocaine linked to two overdose deaths last year. The Albany County District Attorney’s Office said David Mathes, 28, pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

The DA’s Office said the Watervliet Police Department began an investigation after two people died of an overdose in four months. Police arrested Mathes on September 3 for supplying the illicit drugs.

Mathes faces a sentence of six years’ determinate in prison for each count, to be served consecutively, for a total of 12 years in addition to three years of probation. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 26 at 9:30 a.m.
