Pittsford native’s Broadway debut earns ten Tony nominations

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The long-awaited Tony nominations were announced Thursday morning, including a whopping ten nominations for a show with a local actress.

Pittsford-Mendon graduate Isa Antonetti made her Broadway debut this year in the “Buena Vista Social Club,” playing the role of young Omara, the famous Cuban singer.

News 8’s Theresa Marsenburg sat down with a very excited Isa shortly after she learned she got the role.

Her family recently traveled from Rochester to NYC to see her perform-in the Broadway hit. She’s met some big-time inspirations like superstars Jennifer Lopez and Cynthia Erivo, who is hosting this year’s Tony Awards right here on CBS June 8.

42 different plays and musicals are in the running following a blockbuster season on Broadway. Other nominations include “Death Becomes Her” and “Maybe Happy Ending.”…
