SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Sarasota Police officers were able to rescue a man threatening to jump off the Ringling Bridge earlier this week.
On the night of April 28, officers responded to a call about a man in crisis on the bridge. Officers discovered the man had a rope and chain around his neck and was standing on the outside of the bridge railing.
Over the course of the night, members Crisis Negotiation Team talked to the man, offering support and attempting to safely defuse the situation. Traffic on the bridge was closed while the drama unfolded…
