Rain will douse NYC metro through Tuesday: Weather forecast

“Unsettled” is how the National Weather Service describes the wet, stormy conditions the New York City area will likely get through next Tuesday, with around an inch of total rainfall estimated by Sunday night.

“We’re gonna have a complex funnel system kind of stall to our west this weekend, and that’s going to result in a prolonged stretch of unsettled weather,” said NWS meteorologist Jay Engle.

Friday will be partially sunny, and there’s a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., Engle said. The city and areas to its west will have temperatures in the low- and mid-80s, while those in coastal regions will be in at least the upper 60s, followed by a cooldown in the evening…
