Driver slams into dump truck, dies during Southern California pursuit

A theft suspect crashed and died on the 210 Freeway during a high-speed pursuit through Ventura and Los Angeles counties on Friday morning, officials said.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said that at around 10 a.m., officers responded to a call of grand theft at a Target store in Camarillo. When officers arrived, the driver fled, initiating a pursuit that went from Camarillo, through Thousand Oaks, and Simi Valley.

CHP officers took over the chase around 10:50 a.m. in Los Angeles County. A short time later, the driver slammed into the back of a dump truck and sustained serious injuries, authorities said…
