Savannah attorney makes argument against city municipal court

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Savannah city leaders are arguing in of favor of a new, city-run municipal court, and the subsequent withdrawal from Chatham County Recorder’s Court, but some who it would directly impact, such as attorneys, do not think it is a good idea.

The Chatham County Recorder’s Court is a system Savannah criminal defense attorney Dennis O’Brien is used to navigating, and a system he said works.

“It’s a very conversative profession,” said O’Brien on practicing law, “We don’t like a lot of change, and if you have a system right now, at least from a lawyer’s perspective that seems to work, why change it? But then again, it’s what I’m used to and know how to best represent my clients in.”…
