AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred early Saturday morning in the 700 block of East Amarillo Boulevard.
According to APD, at approximately 1:02 a.m. on May 3, officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a body in the roadway. Responding officers discovered a 73-year-old male with visible injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
Early morning fire damages two homes on North Fairmont
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries. His identity has not been released pending notification of family.
Investigators believe the pedestrian was hit by a dark-colored SUV-style vehicle traveling westbound on Amarillo Boulevard. The vehicle fled the scene without stopping or rendering aid.
