A Kyle man is facing a murder charge in connection with a fentanyl overdose death from New Year’s Eve, as reported by the Hays County Sheriff’s Office. Alan Steve Rodriguez, 28, was charged on April 29 after a 50-year-old man was found unresponsive at the Belterra Springs apartments in Austin and pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement obtained by CBS Austin.
The investigation, led by the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigations Division, linked the death to fentanyl use and later transferred the case to its Repeat Offender Program Unit for further investigation. Upon an earlier arrest on March 26, authorities seized narcotics, including fentanyl, cocaine, THC, marijuana, and several firearms from Rodriguez, as noted by News 4 San Antonio. Rodriguez has been in custody since his March arrest.
Rodriguez’s charges are heavy and varied, spanning from first-degree felonies for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance to a class B misdemeanor for Possession of Marijuana.
