The chance of precipitation varies from 30% to 100% across these areas, with similar patterns of increasing clouds and disruptions ranging from light showers to potential thunderstorms, as detailed forecasts for Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island indicate a tumultuous weather week ahead.
The National Weather Service has also issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the area, warning of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening that “may produce damaging wind gusts and large hail,” along with heavy rain leading to possible “localized flash flooding.” The outlook continues into the week with low probabilities for widespread hazardous weather, except for periods of heavy rain from late Sunday night into Wednesday, also the office mentioned “spotter activation will likely be needed this afternoon and evening” an indication of the severity expected from the approaching system.
As the boroughs gear up for a wet week, residents may see a quarter to three-quarters of an inch of rain, especially on Monday night when showers are predicted to be the primary weather feature with a very high 90% chance of precipitation.
