Two WNC legends inducted into North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame

Greensboro — (WLOS) Nine people sat on the stage in the small auditorium at the Greensboro History Museum, each beaming with pride and maybe outlined with a few nerves as they prepared to accept one of the highest honors an athlete in North Carolina can receive. They were the class of 2025 for the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame, and just judging from looks you would have guessed as much.

Hulking Greg Ellis, a former Pro Bowl defensive end, exchanged pleasantries with the brother of the late Chester McGlockton, who was also a Pro Bowl defensive lineman who’s giant genes were passed on to his sibling.

Rollie Geiger, the tall, lanky longtime coach of the NC State cross country and track and field programs sat next to Wendy Palmer, the 6’2 former WNBA star…
