A homeless man in Leesburg was arrested for drugs found in his backpack after officers were called to remove several transients on city owned property.
Officers responded to the city owned property of 2116 Griffin Road regarding a call from a city employee at 8:40 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Transients, one of which was later identified as 22-year-old Jermaine Garita Fleming, were seen on the premise going in and out of a shed at the back of the property.
Upon arrival, the officers were told by the employee that the building was vacant, and no one should be on the premises. As they walked to the shed, they saw several transient belongings that the employee said were not supposed to be there. An officer then knocked on the storage shed door and announced the presence of law enforcement, the report said.
One subject inside the shed answered the officer’s call out and advised there were four people inside. All subjects were called out of the shed. Fleming and his girlfriend came out from a separate section within the shed where a bed was made up, the report said…
