COLONIE — Ryan Buskey started later than the rest of the competitors he faced in the high jump competition at the 59th annual Harry Koch Colonie Relays. By the time the Colonie junior standout began his quest to win the event, other competitors that had finished their day’s work gathered to watch him. Buskey did not disappoint.
On a day when conditions varied greatly with heavy rain kicking in during the middle portion of the competition, Buskey received a rhythmic clap on his approach from onlookers as he then cleared the bar at 6 feet, 8 inches to prevail by six inches. He even spiked himself on his final attempt to clear 7-0 and drew blood.
“I think I jumped all right. They changed the mats from where they were earlier in the week and I didn’t get a chance to practice on it,” Buskey said…
