Unlicensed driver from Mexico lands in jail after stopped for speeding

An unlicensed driver from Mexico was arrested for driving without a license after being stopped for speeding.

An officer observed the driver of a red 2019 Ford pickup truck, later identified as 23-year-old Raul Mendoza Suarez, speeding in front of him on U.S. Highway 27/441 at around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, May 3, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.

The officer watched the pickup following the vehicle in front of it by less than a car length of space. He also saw the pickup drift into the right lane multiple times. At one point, almost half the vehicle was in the lane before being corrected, the report said.

Once the officer caught up to the vehicle, he paced it as going 67mph in a 50-mph zone, roughly from the intersection with Spring Lake Road to the intersection with Cooke Street. He then initiated a traffic stop using his emergency lights, the report said…
