Texas Weather Alert: Storms May Hit Lubbock Area Overnight After Sunny Sunday

Lubbock, Texas – A warm and sunny Sunday across the South Plains could turn stormy overnight as severe weather builds along the Texas–New Mexico border.

According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, highs across the region will reach the low to mid-70s under mostly sunny skies. However, southeasterly winds will strengthen by late afternoon, setting the stage for possible strong to severe thunderstorms that may move east through the night.

Cities including Lubbock (74°F), Plainview (73°F), and Childress (74°F) will enjoy calm daytime conditions before the weather changes. Friona, Aspermont, and Brownfield are also expecting highs in the low to upper 70s. Winds will shift south to southeast at 5 to 20 mph, increasing gusts later in the evening…
