Veterans Affairs Secretary defends pending job cuts in visit to Eugene

In a visit to the Eugene Veterans Affairs Clinic on May 1, VA Secretary Doug Collins defended pending cuts to the department’s workforce.

A memo shared with USA Today in March , which Collins later confirmed, said that the department planned to change staff levels to what they were in 2019, which would be a reduction of roughly 76,000 nationally or 15% of the department.
