Meet a 2024-25 Student Delegate: Sophia Foisy of Woodstock High School!

Student voice matters in CCSD! Each year, every high school selects a Student Delegate to the School Board to represent their peers and provide valuable insight to the district’s governance team. In addition to the Delegates participating in School Board meetings, Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis meets with the group throughout the year to listen for insights to develop plans for district and school improvement. Why did you want to serve as a student delegate to the School Board?

I wanted to serve as Woodstock High School’s student delegate for a multitude of reasons, but the one that stands out to me the most is passion for education. Ensuring that every kid receives the best education possible has always been important to me, and I knew there was no place better than Cherokee County to do this. Each of the School Board members, educators, and staff members have an unmatched motivation and determination for improvement, and I knew I wanted to be a part of that.
