ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The New Creation Church in Albuquerque was the first to open a “safe outdoor space” in the International District , meant to give unhoused people a safe place to live while they work to turn their lives around. News 13 got a chance to speak with some of the people staying at the space about how it’s making it easier for them to find full-time housing.
“There’s not even words to say how great it is,” said Benjamin Shand, a guest at the space. “Being able to sleep through the night.”
“Now that I have a living address, it’s opening doors for me, like unbelievable,” said guest Sophia Cranmer.
