Crash on I-66 causing delays for morning commute in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Drivers in Fairfax County should expect delays due to a crash on Interstate 66 Monday morning. It’s the second major slow-down of the morning commute following a crash on the inner loop of the Capital Beltway in D.C.

Traffic officials in Fairfax County say a crash on eastbound I-66 past Exit 47 (VA-234) initially closed one general purpose lane and one express lane. The crash has since been moved to the shoulder. However, the police presence and crash investigation has delays stretching back nearly six miles. All travel lanes are open to traffic.

Details about the crash have not yet been made public. That includes how many vehicles were involved, whether anyone was injured and the severity of those possible injuries. The cause of the crash also remains under investigation…
