The line between emotional and competitive in sports can be very thin, and that’s something that new Wake Forest point guard Nate Calmese knows very well.
When Calmese entered the portal from Washington State, “emotional” was a word thrown out about him when fans would sniff around his last stop. So while it’s not something fun to chat about, you have to address the elephant in the room at times.
“At the end of the day, I just want to win,” Calmese said to Demon Deacon Digest. “I just want to win basketball games, and I’m going to do whatever it takes to win. And if it takes being the guy who has to say something that doesn’t want to be said, I will say it. As a point guard, you have to be that guy. You’ve got to lift people up, but you also have to do things like that. And I think that’s what I did this season, and I think some people took it the wrong way.”…
