O n May 4, Prosper ISD was named the winner of the large school district category at the 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards , earning a $100,000 grant in recognition of its outstanding work in public education.
The awards were announced during a ceremony in downtown Austin attended by educators and community leaders from across Texas. Admiral William H. McRaven, former chancellor of the University of Texas System, delivered the keynote and helped recognize winners in 11 categories. In total, 68 finalists were honored and more than $480,000 in cash and grants were distributed.
As previously reported by Local Profile, Prosper is one of the fastest-growing towns in the county — and its school district is keeping pace.
Honoring Texas Educators
Since 2002, the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards have distributed more than $14 million to teachers, counselors, principals, early childhood centers, school boards and districts across the state. This year’s winners included educators from cities large and small — highlighting the depth of commitment found in every corner of Texas.
