Boise State working to navigate new Idaho law limiting DEI activities, courses

BOISE, Idaho — Boise State University officials are working to understand the implications of a new state law that will restrict certain diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) activities at higher education institutions.

In a letter to staff obtained by KTVB, university administrators addressed Senate Bill 1198, which was passed by the Idaho Legislature and signed by the governor in early April. The law takes effect July 1, 2025.

“The Office of General Counsel and the Office of the Provost are working with faculty representatives and other internal stakeholders, as well as the Office of the State Board of Education and other state institutions to better understand the implications of the new law,” the letter stated…
