Fort Wayne native teaches in sister city Takaoka

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A 2017 Carroll High School graduate is now teaching the English language in Japan. Miranda Bearman has taught in Fort Wayne’s sister city, Takaoka, for nine months.

Takaoka is Fort Wayne’s longest-running sister city since 1976. The City of Fort Wayne sent WANE 15 a statement about its relationship with Takaoka.

Fort Wayne is honored to be a sister city with Takaoka. Both cities strive to be good neighbors with a commitment to friendship and peace. We want to continue to be part of a global effort to make our cities and countries as places that give back and think of others first. Learning and citizen diplomacy have been key pillars as part of the ongoing partnership with Takaoka. Takaoka is our longest-running sister city, dating back to 1976. By working together, we’ll be able to accomplish so much and gain an even better appreciation for one another.
