Rearley Crowned SoCon Pitcher Of The Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A lights out performance from the circle amid the Mercer softball team’s weekend sweep at Furman over the weekend brightened the spotlight a bit more for Katheryn Rearley on Monday afternoon when the sophomore was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Rearley, a product of Townsend, Ga., and Richmond Hill High School, registered her first two career shutouts at Pepsi Stadium in Greenville, S.C., to help the Bears not only clinch their fourth-straight league series victory, but also their first road sweep of a conference opponent in six years. The right-hander limited the Paladins to just 7-for-39 (.179) hitting in the series, including a 2-hit blanking on Saturday that helped MU clinch the series win. She struck out 12 batters in 10 innings pitched, and faced four or less batters in 10 of those frames.

It was the fourth-straight win in as many appearances for Rearley who has tallied a 4-0 mark and a 0.37 earned run average since mid-March. She also has 15 strikeouts in 18-2/3 innings pitched across that span…
