Mears on Plea Deals, Crime Trends, and Community Ties

INDIANAPOLIS — You’ve probably heard complaints about plea deals or probation for serious crimes. Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears says his office is focused on achieving real results—holding violent offenders accountable while also helping those struggling with addiction or mental health issues.

“If we’re dealing with people in the criminal justice system who are in this system because of mental health issues, because of addiction issues, or because of housing issues, what can we do to try to solve that problem?” Mears told Indy Politics dot org.
