NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A major entrance to one of East Nashville’s most popular parks remains closed after severe erosion damaged the roadway along the Cumberland River.
Davidson Street, which leads into the eastern entrance of Shelby Park, has been shut down since early April after heavy rainfall caused a slope failure near the embankment across from the Naval Building.
Metro Parks officials say nearly 6.3 inches of rain fell over a four-day span in April, weakening the ground beneath the road. The resulting erosion made the area unsafe for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Engineers are currently working to stabilize the slope, but the repairs are expected to take months…
