Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh turned on the tap today, restoring water flow to the Franklin Square fountain.
In remarks made at a ribbon cutting ceremony under overcast skies, Walsh said the fountain was more than a decorative feature of the park, it was a beloved part of Syracuse’s history.
“I proposed to my wife Lindsay, on the fourth floor of that building right across the street,” Walsh said, pointing at a red brick building. “We had our wedding photos here. We’ve since had family photos taken here. So many families throughout the community have done the same. So this is significant for the community.”…
