Suspect in STPSO’s “WhoDat Wednesday” feature arrested

A New Orleans man who was featured last month in one of the popular “Whodat Wednesday” post of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Facebook page has been arrested.

A man identified as Basil Martin, Jr., , 25, of New Orleans was featured after he was caught on camera stealing more than $2,000 worth of high-end curling irons, styling tools and perfumes from a Covington-area retailer.

An investigation into the theft resulted in STPSO Property Crimes detectives learning that an individual had stole merchandise valued at $2203.89 from the Covington-area retailer on March 7 and returned on March 10 with an accomplice to steal another $1571.91 worth of merchandise. It was also discovered on March 10, the same two men also took merchandise valued at $65.98 from a neighboring business…
