When you hear/read the word “safest” used to describe a hospital, what do you think of?
When it comes to the latest study by the LeapFrog Group (an independent nonprofit focused on patient safety), called “Spring 2025 Hospital Safety Grades,” it means the hospital’s ability to protect their patients from often preventable harm, or more specifically, their ability to protect patients from medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
The LeapFrog group releases the results of studies twice per year, after evaluating almost 3,000 hospitals across the country using over 20 different measures of patient safety. As an Illinois resident, you’ll be happy to know that over 30 Illinois hospitals got a grade of A.
