Encampment Reports Are Climbing Again on the Westside

Reports rise even as city attempts to get people off the streets and into housing

LOS ANGELES – In March, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority announced that initial findings from this year’s homeless count showed a 5%-10% decline in the number of unhoused individuals in L.A. County.

While a reduction would be welcomed (the full report comes out in the summer), this may not square with what people in Palms are seeing. Residents of the Westside neighborhood made 601 reports about tent encampments to the city’s MyLA311 system https://myla311.lacity.gov/s/ in the first quarter of 2025.
