Bodycam footage shows NCSHP troopers not reporting chase in deadly Raleigh crash: Warrant

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A search warrant shows new details in the investigation into the actions of two North Carolina State Highway Patrol Troopers in a deadly Raleigh crash.

Trooper Garrett Macario and his superior, Sgt. Matthew Morrison has been under investigation since January following a crash on Capital Boulevard in October that took the life of 31-year-old Tyrone Mason. Macario is alleged to have given false information to a Raleigh officer at the scene of the incident.

Court records show the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation issued a search warrant in the case on March 18, which was returned on May 1. A NCSBI special agent reviewed Macario’s body camera footage during the incident and reported what he witnessed…
