A massive battery fire involving experimental materials erupted in Adelanto, California Friday afternoon, prompting evacuations and a full HazMat response from San Bernardino County Fire.
Firefighters got the call May 2 at 1 p.m. to Karco Engineering, located in the 9200 block of Holly Road. Crews arrived to find a large industrial battery burning at the site, said officials at San Bernardino County Fire.
Officials confirmed the battery was undergoing testing and consisted of a new combination of materials, though it was not a lithium-ion battery.
