High food costs force Staten Island restaurant to close after 2 years

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — After a two year run, Metropolis’ owners announced an end date to the steak and seafood eatery. The final day will be Sunday, May 11, also Mother’s Day.

“It’s all positive,” said co-proprietor Richie Holmes, who put the word of closure out on the restaurant’s social media.

In his Facebook note, he described the bittersweet announcement as a celebration of sorts. He said, “We invite all of you to come by and have a cocktail, have some bacon, have a steak and have a smile one last time.”…
