Syracuse police hold ceremony to honor officers killed in the line of duty

Syracuse, N.Y. — More than 100 people gathered Monday morning for a ceremony to honor Syracuse police officers killed in the line of duty.

The annual Fallen Heroes Ceremony, held on the lawn of Forman Park on East Genesee Street, paid tribute to 12 officers who died on the job.

The names on the memorial start with James A. Harvey, who was killed in 1893 and end with Michael Jensen, whose name was etched into the granite plaques after he and Onondaga County Sheriff’s office Lt. Michael Hoosock were killed when they were ambushed in a Salina neighborhood in 2024…
