A major lane reduction is set to begin this week on I-81 in Syracuse near Hancock International airport.
The New York State Department of Transportation has announced I-81 northbound will be reduced to one lane from Exit 27/28 (Syracuse Airport/Taft Rd/N Syracuse) to Exit 98 (NY 31/Cicero/Bridgeport) daily from Tuesday May 6 to Friday May 9 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Drivers should expect delays as the nearly 5-mile-long stretch of the highway is often very busy with traffic leaving the city heading towards the northern suburbs at this time of day.
