Distracted driving enforcement blitz nets nearly 200 scofflaws

Nearly 200 motorists were caught up in the Toledo Police Department’s recent enforcement blitz, officials said.

To mark Distracted Driving month, Toledo Police in April conducted a city-wide traffic enforcement campaign, concentrating on major roadways around the city. They included areas with a higher number of reported traffic crashes and traffic complaints, police said.

Officers focused on distracted driving and use of cellular devices while driving. In all, they stopped 194 cars. They issued 80 tickets for distracted driving, 58 for speeding, 34 for seatbelt violations, 15 for not having a driver’s license, and four for driving on a suspended license…
