An empty, unwatered lot in the Eagle Ranch subdivision remains at the center of a stalemate.
Last month, the Eagle City Council unanimously denied a request from Robert and Toni DeShazo to remove a plat note dating back to the early 1970s on a one-acre, empty lot on Ranch Drive, designating it a playground. The note on the city plat laying out the neighborhood, and marketing materials provided by the neighbors dating back to the neighborhood’s early days, said the area would be developed into a park, but it has remained an empty space popular with neighborhood children for decades.
This is now the third time the DeShazos have been turned down to remove the playground designation for the space by the Eagle City Council, once in the late 1980s and a second time in February 2024 since the couple’s business first developed the subdivision. It is currently home to a well house originally built for the DeShazo’s Eagle Water Company, which was since sold to Veolia, and the rest remains unwatered.
