The Maryland Board of Public Works approved a $14.3 million contract Wednesday morning to begin the demolition and reconstruction of Pimlico Race Course — barely a week before the state’s 150th Preakness Stakes.
“There could not be a better time to announce the beginning of a transformation that will allow Pimlico to become a year-round hub for economic activity within the Park Heights community,” Gov. Wes Moore, a Democrat who serves on the board with Comptroller Brooke Lierman and state Treasurer Dereck E. Davis, said at the Annapolis meeting.
