On the afternoon of May 3, Dorchester’s streets became the backdrop for an arrest that sheds light on the persistent scourge of drug trafficking in Boston neighborhoods. According to the Boston Police Department, officers patrolling Gibson Street witnessed an exchange between two individuals, which led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male for drug trafficking charges.
The incident unfolded when officers observed one individual on an electric scooter rendezvous with another on Gibson Street, shortly after departing from Dorchester Avenue. Witnesses to this meeting saw an item quickly change hands before the two individuals separated. The officers, who had to act swiftly yet cautiously, approached one suspect and recovered a plastic bag containing fentanyl. This suspect was informed that a court summons would be issued for possession of Class A substances.
Meanwhile, the scooter-bound suspect attempted to escape, moving rapidly toward Adams Street. But the officers’ persistence paid off when they located the individual at 1580 Dorchester Avenue.
