TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A potential land swap deal is taking a twofold approach to help meet the growing needs of both the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and Ybor City.
Hillsborough County Commissioners will vote on the deal on Wednesday. If approved, the deal would move the sheriff’s office over to the current headquarters of Grow Financial, a property that sits on over 25 acres of land just off the Selmon Expressway on Delaney Lake Drive, in exchange for that 8.3-acre property in Ybor City.

“This is very unconventional. I don’t want to say that this is something that we’re going to do a lot. This is definitely in some ways an experiment, but one that just makes sense,” said former Hillsborough County commissioner Michael Owen.
