Following a series of vehicle crashes that have either killed or seriously injured people in recent years, New Orleans officials are aiming to make roads safer for drivers and pedestrians.

Last week, Mayor Latoya Cantrell’s administration launched a community survey seeking feedback from people who use the city’s thoroughfares. In it, officials ask how people get around and what infrastructure issues and other factors make the roads unsafe. They also ask residents to spotlight specific intersections that are most in need of attention.

The city will host a Safety and Mobility Summit on May 17 at 10 a.m. at University Medical Center’s Conference Center on Canal Street, so residents can speak directly with city staff about their concerns…
