Showers linger in Arizona with triple digits on the way

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — There will be a slight chance of a few lingering showers this morning, mostly west of the Valley. A few more showers are possible today in the higher terrain northeast of Phoenix. High today of 84.

The disturbance in the jet stream which has been bringing the showers and cooler temperatures will continue to move eastward today and tonight. By tomorrow, a ridge of high pressure will start to build sending temperatures into the mid 90s. As the high-pressure ridge intensifies, so will the heat. By Friday, high temperatures will likely move into the triple digits.

We have issued First Alert Weather Days for Saturday and Sunday due to a moderate to high heat risk in the Valley. High temperatures will approach around 105 degrees by Saturday afternoon. Saturday night could be one of the warmest nights we have seen in a while. Low temperatures Saturday overnight into early Sunday morning are forecast in the 70s for much of the Valley and around 80 in Phoenix!…
