The Hilltop neighborhood of Columbus has seen a focused two-week initiative aimed at cleaning up and bolstering safety in the area, particularly along Sullivant Avenue. The Clean and Safe Corridor program, which concluded today, enlisted various city departments to take part in a sweeping endeavor to answer local concerns, according to a release from the City of Columbus, noted on Columbus.gov.
From April 21 to May 5, the initiative aimed to improve public safety, drive economic development, and enhance the overall quality of life for business owners and residents alike. Mayor Andrew J. Ginther expressed his commitment: “The city is working daily with Hilltop residents to improve safety and continuously transform this resilient neighborhood. We advance this mission with each business owner we support, each gun we recover, each tree we plant and each crosswalk we improve.” Efforts included enhanced enforcement by the Columbus Division of Police, particularly during a strategic Operation Unity mission on April 30.
Inspired by local feedback and service requests through the city’s 311 system, the strike force targeted the commercial corridor of Sullivant Avenue, stretching from Central to Hague avenues.
