Families and work families remember Huntsville and Madison County’s fallen officers

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 6 has hosted a memorial for fallen officers of Huntsville and Madison County every year since 1990. They hold it this week, the week before the official Peace Officers Memorial Day, to shed the spotlight on these officers, to make sure they’re not forgotten.

Twenty-six law enforcement officers have lost their lives in the line of duty in Huntsville and Madison County over the years. That’s police officers, deputies, marshals and state troopers. This memorial remembers all of them, dating back to 1880.

“They served in a different way,” said Donny Shaw, spokesman for FOP Lodge 6. “But they serve for the same spirit of the heart in order to serve the community and protect their community, take care of their community.”…
