Power Outage Hit Downtown Santa Barbara Tuesday

Downtown Santa Barbara experienced a significant disruption Tuesday afternoon due to an unexpected power outage that affected thousands of Southern California Edison (SCE) customers.

The outages began at 1:55 p.m., with additional outages reported at approximately 3 p.m. Nearly 7,200 customers in the downtown area were impacted, causing interruptions at homes, businesses, and local government including Superior Courthouses and various government administrative buildings.

By 5:30 p.m., SCE reduced the number of outages to just 160 customers. The cause of the outages remains unknown…
