Lane County says it’s prioritizing public safety with cuts planned for 25-26 budget

EUGENE, Ore. — A $6.3 million general fund deficit will mean cuts to several departments, according to Lane County as it released its budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year beginning July 1.

The county administrator and leadership team put together the budget over the last six months, tackling growing expenses as revenues sit at a standstill.

The general fund is over $178 million and 70 percent of that fund is discretionary. About $54 million of that fund is property tax revenue…
